The Foods the Internet Has Decided to Worship

Somewhere along the way, food stopped being fuel and became a personality. People don't just like coffee now — they have a relationship with it. They don't enjoy bacon — they would, if pressed, defend it in a court of law. The internet took ordinary cravings and elevated them into full-blown religions, complete with merch.

Let us bow our heads before the holiest of the food gods.

The Bacon Industrial Complex

At some point bacon escaped breakfast and colonized everything — desserts, cocktails, salads that were doing just fine without it. The belief that bacon improves literally anything is treated as settled science by a large and loud portion of the internet. Question it at your peril.

The Caffeine Devotion

Then there's coffee, the only drug we're actively encouraged to be publicly addicted to. The fantasy of mainlining an entire pot before noon isn't really a joke to the people who share it — it's a lifestyle they aspire to. "Don't talk to me before my coffee" is less a phrase and more a legally binding warning.

Why We Get Like This

Food obsession is comfortable because it's a low-stakes identity. Declaring yourself a coffee person or a bacon evangelist signals something about you without requiring any actual effort or risk. It's a personality you can buy at the grocery store, and the internet rewards the loud declaration of it with likes and knowing nods.

And honestly? There are worse things to build a small chunk of your identity around than a hot drink that makes mornings survivable and a salty miracle that makes everything taste better. Worship on. Just maybe ease up on the bacon-flavored toothpaste.
